Solder Splashing During Cream Solder Printing

When electronic PCBs are charged with static electricity in the cream solder printing process, charged solder may splash due to repulsion.
If the PCB with splashed solder is sent to the thermal treatment process, the solder forms solder balls that may cause circuit problems.

Solder ball: A drop of solder forms a shape of a ball, adheres to a chip component and causes a short-circuit or other problems.

Conventional countermeasures

None

  • Printing defects occur.
  • The level of trust by customers decreases.

Countermeasures with static eliminators (ionizers)

An ionizer reduces printing defects. It is also effective for improving the level of trust by customers.

Improvements and Effects
Words from the worksite

Reduced defect rate

措施前缺陷率:近1%,措施后缺陷率:近0.1%

In addition, there are other invisible effects such as improved reliability.
